Big Time Duet Lavender is a pairing of the best white and blue Lavender plants available. Both plants have large flower spikes (up to 4 inches long) that bloom earlier and longer than any other variety. Plant these Mediterranean herbs together for a cooling mix of white and blue, or individually alongside other sun-loving perennials for a long-blooming color display. Lavandula angustifoliais considered to be the best culinary variety of Lavender, for both savory and sweet dishes. Often rosemary can be replaced with Lavender quite effectively.
In hot dry garden beds, Lavender is a no-fail plant that requires little maintenance. Best suited for zones 5-9, Big Time Duet can be grown as an annual in other areas or even moved indoors over the winter. Deer rarely browse on the highly fragrant leaves and flowers. Pollinators flock to the flowers for their intoxicating nectar, making this plant a must-have for any pollinator garden or kitchen garden plan. Plant Lavender as a low-growing hedge along walkways or a retaining wall, or in a challenging spot with all-day sun and poor soil.
Big Time Duet Lavender Care
Lavender is not fussy about the texture or richness of the soil. In fact, soil that seems too dry, stoney, or nutrient deficient is perfectly able to support Lavender growth. Amend heavy clay soil with plenty of compost and some coarse sand to provide sufficient drainage. Locations that are prone to seasonal flooding should be avoided. A balanced granular fertilizer can be applied early in the spring every few years. Lavender plants prefer a neutral or alkaline pH, and will struggle in acidic soil.
Lightly prune Lavender twice a year to keep the shape mounded and compact. In the early spring, trim back spent flowers and foliage to just above the woody part of the branches. Avoid cutting into the woodiest part of the plant, as the whole branch could die back, disfiguring the plant. Lightly cut back the stems again after the flowers have finished in late summer. Use the flower wands for arranging or drying.

Big Time Duet Lavender stays compact with a height and spread of 12 inches. Use a pot with at least a 12-inch diameter to plant both varieties together. Individual plants will happily grow in a 10-inch pot. Space Lavender plants 12 inches apart when growing in a garden bed.

We encourage all plant lovers to purchase the Plant Addicts Warranty, whether you're a new gardener or an expert. There are many variables outside of anyone's control that can cause a plant to die. Hungry animals, drought, poor soil conditions, over watering, diseases & pests are all good examples of what can cause plants to die. The Plant Addicts Warranty is a 1 year warranty protecting you from all of the unknowns and will replace your plant if something were to happen to it.
The warranty is purchased on a per plant basis and must be purchased at the same time as the plant(s). We will cover 100% of the price of the plant, but the warranty does not cover shipping costs. SImply let us know if your plant has died within 1 year of receiving it and we will get you a new one shipped out as soon as possible (depending on the time of the year and availability). We may ask for photos for documentation purposes, but we try to make the process as easy as possible.

Below are some factors we consider when determining when to ship the plants depending on the timing of the order.
Winter to Early Spring
We ship only when it's warm enough to plant in your growing zone.
Sometimes plants aren't completely ready to sell and ship in early spring. We will wait until the plants are ready before shipping so you don't get a subpar product.
For Southern plants we will be able to ship much earlier than plants coming from our northern nursery.
Summer
If there is extreme heat we may delay shipping for a week or several weeks.
We review what areas the plants are traveling through as well as your location.
Fall into Winter
We’ll ship plants out all the way up to the end of the fall planting season!
