Homemade Flour Tortillas are a whole lot easier to make than you might think, when you follow the steps in this recipe below.
I am a firm believer that pretty much everything tastes better served in a tortilla.

Which is why I make sure to have flour tortillas on hand at any given time.
Tortillas are a staple around my house because they get used in so many different recipes from cheesy beef enchiladas to apple pie dessert taquitos.
Learning to make your own will guarantee that you always have them when your recipe calls for them.

Using just a few simple ingredients that can usually be found in any pantry, you can whip up a batch of four tortillas any time you need to.

Flour Tortilla Ingredients
- Flour
- Salt
- Baking Powder
- Vegetable Oil
- Water
How to Make Flour Tortillas
Step 1: Using a stand mixer, whisk dry ingredients until combined.
Step 2: Add water and oil and mix, scraping down the sides as needed until ball forms.

Step 3: Mix for two more minutes until the dough is smooth.
Step 4: Turn out onto floured work surface and divide into 16 pieces and roll each into a ball.

Step 5: Allow to rest for 10 minutes.
Step 6: Preheat the skillet over medium heat.

Step 7: Roll out each ball into a 6″ circle.
Step 8: Cook each tortilla on first side for about a minute, until brown spots form, then flip and cook other side for about 20 seconds.

Step 9: Stack cooked tortillas and wrap in a clean towel to cool.
If not being used immediately, store in a zip lock bag.
